If you, like us, need a little kick in the butt when it comes to wellness and working out, this will be welcome news. Vancouver’s first community wellness platform, myMomentum, aims to make wellness more inviting and accessible to a broader community by encouraging users to complete wellness challenges for points that can be redeemed for free drinks or fitness classes at a range of partnering businesses, from Larry’s Market to Salted Cycle to Pop Queen Cardio—a current total of nearly 50 partnering wellness companies and more than 1,000 users
Despite the fact that the 604 is known for clean living, the health and fitness community can seem intimidating and exclusive if you’re not a part of it. “There’s tonnes of wellness, but until now there hasn’t been an overarching community and a platform that brings it all together," says the app's founder, Anna Chan. "myMomentum rewards people for making healthy choices that aren’t just focused on results, and helps people discover amazing local wellness companies that can help them on their journey.”
For users like Alexis Doss, it’s a way not only to boost wellness but plug into the community, too. “myMomentum has brought balance and wellness to my life in such a convenient way," she says. "I can find everything I need to nourish my body and mind. I also get to connect with likeminded people.”
To that end, myMomentum is launching an Indiegogo campaign to help fund its next stage of development. As part of the crowdfunding campaign, a portion of the proceeds raised will go to Face of Today Foundation—a local non-profit that addresses mental health via innovative programming benefiting youth and building the community.
The Indiegogo launch kicks off with a free public event on November 13th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the gorgeous Pavilion Cowork. Just the momentum we need to get our wellness on! —Vita Daily
