Meatless and Merry (Chili Non Carne Recipe!)

With Christmas just around the corner, we're bracing ourselves for a little holiday entertaining stress—including what to serve our guests. Enter The Meatless Farm Co.—a plant-based brand looking to help Canadians reduce meat consumption in an environmentally friendly and healthy way this holiday season. The Meatless Farm products are 100 per cent plant-based and made using the highest-quality, non-GMO ingredients available. Using its signature ground product, The Meatless Farm has created a “chili non-carne” holiday survival kit; try making it at home using the recipe below, and see if you can "fool" family and friends (and please those who don't eat meat, to boot)! —Vita Daily

Chili Non Carne (Serves 4; Ready in 1 Hour)

1 (400 g) package Meatless Farm Meat Free Ground
1 onion, diced
1/2 (14 oz) can chopped tomatoes (or fresh equivalent)
1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
1 tbsp cumin
1 tbsp chili powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp paprika
1/2 (14 oz) can kidney beans
1/2 cup water

Heat a large saucepan over medium heat, add the oil. Add the meat-free ground and cook for 8-10 minutes, breaking up into pieces, until browned. Add the onion and vegetables of your choice. Cook until soft, about 3 minutes. Reduce heat to medium-low. Add the tomatoes, tomato sauce, spices and 1 cup water. Mix to combine. Add the kidney beans, mix and bring to a simmer. Cover and cook for 30 minutes.
