Halloween Candy-Wine Pairings

As kids, Halloween was all about the sweets: there was no greater feeling than coming home exhausted from trick-or-treating and dumping out our impossibly heavy pillowcase to sort through our haul. Our palates may be more sophisticated now (there are significantly fewer Sweet Tarts in our lives) but the nostalgia felt from Halloween candy will always remain. Whether you’re handing out candy or hosting a full-blown costume party for friends we have the perfect pairings with for your favourite treats. —Vita Daily

Buttery Cambria Clone 4 Chardonnay with notes of baked apple is a perfect complement to Reese’s Pieces. The acidity cuts through the richness of the candy, marrying the creamy texture of the chardonnay and chocolate.

La Crema Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir’s spiced plum, cassis and red raspberry notes complement the sweetness and fruitiness of Skittles, Airheads or Starburst, and blend beautifully to create a sensory explosion.

For an exciting finish, pair decadent dark chocolate with vibrant Siduri Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. More red-fruited than your average pinot noir, the bouquet of aromatics and the fine-acid finish is the ideal contrast to sharp dark chocolate, creating a complex and luxurious pairing.
